Allison Jeremy Resigns

Some are suggesting that the planned acquisition of SuSE Linux AG by Novell Inc. could reignite an old battle between Novell and Microsoft. Novell owned a competing network operating system for file and print services, which lost market share to Windows in the mid-1990s. It's a blow Novell has struggled to recover from.

Certainly, what's good for Linux is bad for Microsoft, and if Provo-Utah-based Novell does a good job managing the acquisition, it will make Linux stronger because the result will be two strong enterprise Linux competitors -- Red Hat and the newly retooled Novell, experts say.

"For most IT executives in shops that are primarily dominated by Microsoft Windows, and you like Microsoft, this merger won't change anything," said Gordon Haff, a senior analyst at Illuminata, a Nashua, N.H., consulting firm. "But if you're a Microsoft shop and you are considering some Linux, this is a further indicator to you that Linux in the enterprise is very real."

The acquisition will be good for Novell, because it will help strengthen its position in the Linux market and help revitalize Novell as a company, said Steve Kleynhans, a vice president at the Meta Group, a Stamford, Conn., research company.

And Novell is saying that Nuremberg, Germany-based SuSE Linux will benefit by gaining access to Novell's wide distribution channel and entry to a great many enterprises. If Novell can combine the two companies successfully, it will make Linux stronger.

Still, experts caution that Novell has a bad track record when it comes to mergers and acquisitions. "Certainly it's a different company than back in the day of Word Perfect and Unix," Haff said.

There is a risk that Novell won't come up with a positive business formula once it pulls both companies together. "It all looks good on paper, but there is a chance [Novell] can't get a product that everyone can get excited about, and one that makes a good business model," Haff said.

CIA

I take a little diversion back to 1982. The largest non-nuclear explosion ever recorded by satellite took place in Russia in 1982, and was an explosion in the Siberian gas pipeline. The shocking, and little-known truth about this catastrophe was that it was directly caused by the CIA by deliberately giving the Soviet Union modified software (in binary only format of course) that was engineered to destroy the pipeline.

Where do I stand

I am at many places right now! Well by this I dont mean that I have clones and they are roaming around everywhere, but I mean that I ave been partici[ating in a lot of places on the internet as well as in life -

Good Tutorials
At good tutorials, I am currently only a user clicking on a few goods and I might become an author there soon! So this is my user page and this is a link to my author page.

deviantArt
I am an active memeber of deviantART as well and I submit a few deviations in week. This is me page on dA.

Rent A Coder
I am a freelance Web Designer and Web Developer and I do a little bit of freelancing when I have free time. This is my ew accoutnas I deleted the last one when I thought that I needed to concentrate on my studies. Here is my resume.

Studies
I have screwed up my PrePreBoards big time, managin only like a 60%-65% which is really realy really bad. So, now I have started studying really hard. I am concentrating on Social Science, General Science and English for now as I am sure that I cant do well in Math and Sanskrit.

Life
I am still confused about why we are here. I dont understand what is the need of doing anything. I am becoming complacent. I feel that even if you do something big like make the next bext os or the most visited website, it just wont matter as in the end we all have to go inside the sun once it dies.

So this is where I stand in life and on the web.

Good Tutorials!

Since the day that I added my own tutorial on Good-Tutorials.com there has been no change in the homepage. Zach(owner of Good Tutorial) says that there will be one tutorial every hour. But there has not been even one tutorial since 2 days. It might be because his end sems are coming at CMU. I dont know for sure! I ust want my tutorial to be listed on Good-tutorials.com so badly!!!

Error in Blogger

I found yet another Error iin Blogger Beta. While editing your Blog's layout let us say you click on the edit button on any of the Element of the page. You make some changes and save it. Then if you want to make more chenges in it then you have to refresh the page as the "edit" link goes once you have updated and saved it. Very frustrating I must say!

dsButtons

Waiting for the bus, on the train, sitting in cafes – we're always up for starting a friendly match.

Thing is, it's not always easy to tell if there are fellow DS gamers around.

Talk about missed connections! We know there are plenty of DS's out there tucked away in bags and purses that could be out having some fun.

DS Buttons are an invitation to play.

Grab some buttons for the DS wifi games you play and find some new gaming partners when you're out and about. At the very least, you'll have some cool buttons so you can wear your DS love on your sleeve!

Mongolian BBQ

The Mongolian BBQ originated centuries ago in the Far East during feasts for Genghis Khan. Soldiers would gather together and prepare cuts of meat and vegetables. Then each warrior would choose what they liked and in a way cooked there own food.

PUMA has started something similar to this. It lets you taste the art of shoemaking and pick from a generous assortment of pre-cut materials to design your own custom made shoes.

Here are a few pics of the shoe that I made -

Burning Multiple Times to the Same CD

Generally, when you burn files to a CD once, you’re done — you can’t burn to that CD again. Unless you use this little trick: First create a new folder and give it a descriptive name (something like “burn baby burn!” Kidding). Now put the files you want to burn into that folder, then go to the Applications folder and open the Utilities folder. Double-click on Disk Utility. When it comes up, go under the File menu, under New, and choose Disk Image from Folder, and then when the Open dialog appears, find that folder with the stuff you want to burn and click the image button. A Save dialog appears in which you can leave the name as is or choose a new name (leave the other controls alone), and then click Save. In a few moments, a disk image of your folder’s contents will appear in the list on the left side of the Disk Utility dialog. Click on that icon, and then click the burn button at the top left of the Disk Utility dialog.
When you click the Burn button, a dialog will appear asking to insert a disc. Do so, and then click once the blue downward-facing triangle on the right side of this dialog to show more options. Click on the checkbox for Leave disc appendable, then click the Burn button. Your data will now be written to that CD. To add more files later, just insert that same CD and then you’ll use this same process all over again, but when you get to that final burn dialog, the button won’t say “Burn” this time, instead it will say “Append” because you’re adding these files to the same disc. By the way, don’t forget to remove the files you already burned to this disc from your “burn baby burn!” folder (and the DMG file it creates) before you make your next disc image.

Best SEO Idea

This idea was given to me by Vivek's elder brother Hex. I was asking him just like that how I can get more hits from Google. He gave me a perfect idea. He told me to blog the whole engligh dictionary. Dont worry, I am not planning to do anything like that. But I was just wondering , that why does not http://dictionary.com show up for each and every or even 70% of the search terms.
The reason for that is that the URL for say the meaning of "Apple" would include some thinglike - "?", "#" etc. This is not search engine friendly. While Wikipedia has only "-" and a normal "/"
in there URL. That is why the chances of Wikipedia popping up as a search result for a word are more than that of Dictionary.com

Desire for Salvation?

Well! I just had a very strange thought. It was that -

Anyone who desires Salvation will not get it,
and only those, who dont desire salvation, will achieve salvation...

That is because, only the one who does not desire anything will achieve salvation. And if you desire one thing and only one thing i.e. salvation then too you will not be able to get salvation as you still have some kind of desires.

Of Sprites, Lightning and Radiation

I found out today what a sprite is. It is the after effect of a lighning strike, but it is not on the earth, it actually goes upwards to the atmosphere and looks somewhat like the roots of a tree. Here is a picture -

Sprites formed by lightning

Now you know what a spite is. Everybody would know that whenever there is a nuclear reaction on the earth that is a big in magnitude it send of its radiation out in space about 4000 miles in altitude. This radiation causes the communication satellites not to function. It is something like a mini-solar-flare. There is a constant radiation layer over the earth but there is a saf area where the satillites function. But sometimes this safe area is filled with radiation and this radiation goes away after some time.

Satellite not functioning due to radiation

The rate at which this radioation is more where there is day, during summer and in the equatorial area. Anyone woul guess that the radiation goes away due to the sun's light or radiation. but that is wrong. Actually lightning also occurs moe in -

  • Day time
  • Summer
  • Equatorial Area

So actually, when there is lightning, it forms a sprite, and this sprite sends of radio waves to altitudes of 4000 miles and this clears of the radiation and the safe area is formed again

Cool aint it!!! Lightning is not only destructive, it also it very crucial or the normal working of satellites that control our communication, entertainment and the most importantly the INTERNET.
